I believe it has been over a year since I last posted anything on this site. The last "post" was just a terrible photoshop of Nuge wearing Cooperalls®.

I'm gonna be honest, the Oilers' suckatude over the past few seasons has ground my will to blog about them into dust. They have broken my blogging spirit; not that it was much of a spirit to begin with, but I still did enjoy posting ridiculous theories, photoshops and thoughts about the team every now and then. I don't even know what brought me here today, but since I'm here I thought I would pound out a few words and clean out the blogging pipes a bit. Time to do some dusting and tidying up around this place. I've got my feather duster and my French Maid outfit ready to go!

So, I've been doing some thinking lately and have decided that I'm way too negative on Twitter during Oiler games. I want to be excited about this team again and being negative just sucks any chance of feeling excited away.

Something good happens and I focus on "Oh, well...Sam Gagner may have scored....BUT IT TOOK HIM 100 GAMES!!" Instead of just drinking it in for what it is...an Oiler goal in a season where Oiler goals are rare.

I think it has just become too easy to rag on this team day in a day out. The management makes questionable moves, the coaches make questionable decisions, the players make questionable plays. It's just too easy to be negative. Couple that with 74 straight years of not making the playoffs and you get a nice steaming pot of negative soup.

But I pledge that from here on out, no matter how terrible Mark Fraser is, no matter how slow Sam Gagner skates, no matter how many 2 on 1's the power play unit gives up, I'm going to think positive thoughts and tweet positive tweets during games.

Another 2 on 1 given up during a man advantage? No problem. "You played that as best as you could, Marincin. Way to hustle back!" I will say.

Sam Gagner gets beat to a puck with a three step lead on his pursuer? No worries. "You go, young Samwise! Some of us were just born to be Honda Civics, not Ferraris!" I will tweet.

Mark Fraser takes a holding penalty because he is still learning how to skate? No big deal. "This young man needs some work, but he could turn out to be the Jason Smith we've been lacking for a real long time." I will think.

So from here on out it's all about being positive; a conscious effort to not rag on this team.

GM1.  Yay! But TURNOVERS.
GM2.  *facepalm* ....TURNOVERS!!!
GM3.  Nervousness --> Confusion --> Turnovers --> Ref Rage --> Yakupoving --> Relief.
GM4.  WTF! MORE REF RAGE AND TURNOVERS!
GM5.  THE PP IS THE BEST EVER IN THE WORLD OF ALL TIME! REFS ARE AWESOME!
GM6.  ...phew. But watch the turnovers, guys.
GM7.  39 Seconds of terror thanks to TURNOVERS!! But we'll take the points.
GM8.  Belanger broke two toes!!! Also, TURNOVERS!!
GM9.  Horse face guy! Can we get a 60 minute effort here? Also, neutral zone turnovers...OMG!!1!

I LIED

It's been a while since I've posted anything on here.  It's bee a really long super duper mega platinum while, actually.

I was visiting one of my favorite sites on earth:  theoatmeal.com  the other day; it's one of my daily stops.  Matthew Inman is the creator of this hilarious site and he made a comic strip about knowingly telling lies, here and I thought it'd be fun to put an Edmonton Oiler twist on this meme he has created.

He was gracious enough to create a nice DIY meme template which I used here.  Thanks, Matt.

By the way, these are not necessarily MY beliefs of these situations; I'm merely projecting the thoughts of the masses that I read on twitter.

Since I visit/post/read/laugh at this little corner of the Internet I created about once every 22 years or so, I thought it'd be fun to take the last post made on this site - which was a bunch of predictions for last season - and see how I made out in my prognostications.

I bet I got them ALL right!  ....

Is this the year!?!?  ...that Ales Hemsky plays almost an entire season and reaches that coveted "point per game" mark?  NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that Dustin Penner further expands on his role a top line 30+ goal scorer?  NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that JF Jacques plays more than five whole games in a row before going on the IR list?  (Nope...he's already on the IR)  NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that the entire team doesn't succumb to Swine Flu/Mono/Broken Limbs/Erectile dysfunction? NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that Shawn Horcoff battles back into the good graces of Oiler fans with savvy veteran leadership and a solid 2-way game? NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that MacIntyre actually does his job as a Nuclear Deterrent and provides the younglings and little guys with the confidence to play without the fear of getting destroyed...while also scoring 5 goals? NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...that Steve Smith scores one in his own net...from behind the bench? YEP! IT HAPPENED IN PRACTICE!! WE TALKIN' BOUT PRACTICE.

Is this the year!?!?  ...Curtis Foster makes everyone forget about that Souray fellow? NOPE!

Is this the year!?!?  ...Jim Vandermeer reaches 15,000 followers on Twitter? DUNNO, TOO LAZY TO LOOK.
